Should have bought a hummer I guess. :cry:    I'm sure I could have gotten at leat another 12 inches into the snowbank if I had one....   Totally worth the 10mpg  :roll:

This is cumberland pass in Colorado, about 11,500 feet elevation where the giant drift was.

Beautiful country!  Reminds me of 4-wheeling in Ouray, Colorado with my brother.  We both wished we had a VW-turbo-diesel powered suzuki, but the full size Jeep Pickup with thirty somthing inch tires and lockers front and rear did the trick.  I remember getting a little bit of a headache at 13,000 ft though!

And I just thoughts of some more VW Diesel content: during that trip on one of the 4x4 trails, we found stranded on the side of a road the remaining scraps that once were a Diesel import Pickup truck.  I popped the "hood" and what do you know, there was a VE injection pump with atmospheric compensating device on the top!  I made everyone in our Jeep group wait until I could successfully extract its atmospheric compensating VE governor cover (about the only item of value left on the truck's remains) :lol:

Yeah, it's beautiful up there. Here's the picture looking the other way from that point.  I live between 7,600 and 9,200 feet, so I'm somewhat used to the altitude.  Going over 12,000 foot passes the car bogs a little at higher RPM especially though.  But you don't need rpm for trails like this.
