K24 off a VW and a K26 off a Audi.

Take the cold side off the 26 and bolt it to the 24..

As you will have it apart it would be a good idea to install new bearings and seals while it's apart.

All new turbo with a larger compressor when done.

The hybrid is good. Some people run the mercedes 300D turbo (I think it is a type of k26?). If you are going wild (seriously tweaked pump, ported exhaust, head studs) you could try a Holset hy35. However you won't see boost until about 4000rpm.

What power/torque are we talking with a k24/26 hybrid? compared to a T3?

What cars have the k24 or K26 turbo's?

Cheers!

I'll look into the 300d turbo!

I thought the 300d turbo was a T3?

Hmmm, I guess some are. And others are k26s. But the T3s on the 300d seem to be a bit larger than the VW ones. A few people on this board run the merc t3's with fairly decent power increases.

Where would be a good place to get a rebuild kit for a t/3 and roughly what do they cost.  I definately don't want one of those Chinese ones though but other than Garrett itself does anybody have any recomendations.

Sorry to be picky and all, but 'bigger than a T3' is a very poor question.  The correct answer to this is the T4 in the garret range lol.  The 'T' is just a nomenclature for the cores of the turbos.  the 'T3' has masses of variations.  Just ask the ford boys lol :)  Best place would be first to identify your current turbo.  you mind find the stock cossie 'T3' is bigger than yours.  But then the 'big turbo' escort cos ran an even bigger version lol.  Find out your current exhaust and compressor specs and we can give better advice.

The T3 was from a 1.6td, I'll take a look at the specs.

It needs a rebuild (any guides anywhere?) where would be a good place for a rebuild kit?

I might keep this if it gives me what power i need, what could i expect it to give? with the approprite fuel, inter-cooler and exhaust of course!
