my AAZ has T3, custom boost pin and 11mm pump piston, de goved, running just over 30psi it spins in 1st 2nd and 3rd in the dry and 4th and 5th in the wet, infact i can do a standing burn out in 5th gear with a little water down. if i get the gear change right i can pull away from my mates 200bhp VR6 mk2 golf
Theres a local here with an AAZ in a Rocco. The first time ever on a drag strip he turned 14.5.
Quote from: "stewardc"Theres a local here with an AAZ in a Rocco. The first time ever on a drag strip he turned 14.5.I was for a drive in the Rocco today and it is retarded! We left 3 strips, 2 with the tires and one from the exhaust.. all he is running for exhaust is the downpipe! What a drive though, spins through 3rd easy on the dry pavement.
the pump piston and head is off an AFN i believe, you must keep the AAZ cam plate as the TDI cam plate doesnt work in IDI, i found out the hard way , i had to get the pump piston machined a little to fit the cam plate, changed my gov spring for a load of washers, also using the pump top off a 1.6TD and took an angle grinder to my boost pin. short 2.5" exhaust straight through with no boxes, bleed valve, stock injectors and a big rad with twin speed big fans to keep it cool
My old GTD caddy ran a similar setup but with standard pump piston and was a fat slab of fun. I'm building a mk1 driver with a tweaked AAZ - I've just scored a 11mm TDI pump, can you enlighten me on what machining was required and what other probs may arise on fitting this to the AAZ pump.
