WTB Mk3 rear spindles for drums with ABS
« on: May 30, 2011, 04:36:57 pm »
This may be for our european pals. I am looking for the rear spindles for cars with ABS 1997-99 mk3 Jetta. the part numbers are 333 501 117A and 118A. I don't mind good used, but i will check them before mounting , so they must be good. Or if someone can find them new but from an OEM suppier [Prothe has them from China- no thanks] for not a fortune. The dealer here wants over $200 each. They are very rare here in North America, only a handful of TDIs were sold with ABS

does it have to be from a TDI car? cause there's lots of 2.0 ABA cars around here.

Hey thanks, I was trying to avoid that kind of price though. I have an account with autocamping which is where I buy most of my VW parts, but they don't have a list for it. They might be able to get them, but not for months

I just saw that they are the same as for B4 Passats. There should be more of those out there.

most all passats had rear disks... his issue is rear disks vs drumbs.. they different for the caliper mount... what he needs to do is see if he can make them work by cutting the ears off..

Is it possible that in Canada Passats TDI's had drums, while in the US they were discs? Nice big drums as a matter of fact.

how much bigger thern 200mm???

id like to see some photos... with the roddo 11" front brakes on the toaster.. and 200mm rear drumbs i kinda feel my rear brakes need a "upgrade" but they need to be real drumbs as well the 5x130 has to be tapped into them.. not like say a audi 5000 which is a seperate bearing hub/drumb..

also modding a set of disk ones would be easy with sawzall and grinder.. its just 2 ears that would get in the way of the backing plates..

They are 230x40. but I did see one reference that says Canadian Passats had drums and not the US [?] and solid front discs

only said that on both posts.. :P

the question is this for you.. is the bearings the same??? i know audi 5000 have bigger ones.. and sounds like a 5000 sized drum.. id hope for 4x100 vs the 4x108 they used though..

if bearings the same.. drilling a abs hole in back plate not a issue..

another thing... if it had drums... and solid rotors.. why would it have abs??? just point for ponder.. think your looking for a unicorn..

rear bearings are all the same. Even though they are rare, all the parts are listed as available for any B4/A3 TDI
