quick manifold question
« on: November 14, 2008, 08:58:58 pm »
I've sourced a 8-valve turbo exhaust manifold, and a stock 1.6TD intake manifold.

These do infact, bolt directly to the 1.9AAZ head, correct? Some of the manifolds i've seen use a more square port (the VNT15 setup, for example)

The bolt spacing is the same for all the 8 valve heads. The exhaust ports are all the same shape for all the engines. The 1.6 has oval intake ports and the 1.9 (including the AAZ) have d-shaped intake ports.

You can use the 1.6TD intake manifold but you won't be making full use of the 1.9 port design. Some people have machined the manifold to match port but you have to be careful not to grind it too thin. In this case you may just want to get a gasser G60 manifold and grind it cuz it has a better runner design than the TD manifolds.

Back from the dead.

I got an intake from what I was told was a g60 - I do believe it's an oval port.

Next question: What exhaust manifold to get for my t25 that has d-shaped ports?

I'm almost positive it's only the intake on the 1.9 that had D ports, the exhausts are all oval.

There's more than a few turbo exh manifolds for 8v vw's around, I can't help beyond that.

100% correct..
