1  English Section / FAQ/Tech Tips/Please Read First / Re: mTDI / TDI-M Injection Pump FAQ on: November 01, 2012, 09:57:06 PM
Indeed, but not from VAG.

I've been working over 12 years on these VE / VP pumps and none of the VAG (VW / Audi / Seat / Skoda) IDI pumps had a 20mm axle. Yes, they have at Ford, PSA (Peugeot, Citroen) and most likely some others.

So please show me a pump that has got one, I would be very interested. Wink

All VAG indirect engines have a 17mm main shaft. There are other alternatives with almost our pump housing and 20mm axle.

I tried once to enlarge a 17mm pump to 20mm main shaft, but there is a small opening to pressurize the seal on the axle and you get into this hole when creating the bigger hole.

I build a 2.5 TDI in my Audi 100 from 1977 and I also had the issue with the rollers and I solved it like this:

Original 2.5TDI pump

Comparison between the roller houses

New one with 4 rollers instead of 3.

New pumphouse.

I've been driving for a good 10.000km with this pump and a friend of mine is driving a NK offroad car (paris dakar type of vehicle) and we also build in a 2.5 R5 TDI engine with the same pump. With DSS ultime nozzles a VNT22 he has got more than 300HP and almost 650Nm on all 4 the wheels. When I get the dyno sheet I will post it.
4  English Section / For sale / Needed / Re: M-TDI 12mm pumps (rebuild or new) on: November 30, 2009, 02:21:40 PM
I'm working on a Brasilian factory pump with al my modifications done by Bosch. It seems that it's not going to be a problem to sell new pumps in the nearby future for 1100 euro's with all the modifications made by the factory. They have got a special pump number: 0 460 424 AEZ   .... haha funny. I like it.

Changed the internal pump pressure and the advanced timing mechanism. The supports, max. rpm and the LDA.
5  English Section / TDI Engine / Re: Factory VW 12mm mechanical pump on: June 09, 2009, 01:45:50 PM
@Baxter: I've used these pumps for a couple of years now and I'm pleased with there performance. (my customers also) There are now 3 200+ HP engines running with them. I got one on my Polo 6N 1997 and as soon as I convert the transmission to 02S (Touran 6-speed) I can Install the big VNT again together with the big injectors. For now the small polo transmission is keeping me from high performance. The conversion is planned for 1/2 July.

Click the picture for the complete album.

I change a couple of things: Timing advanced mechanism, Govenor and the valves in the pumphead that go to the injector lines (don't know the english name at the moment)
6  English Section / TDI Engine / Re: Tdi ARP studs (futur sticky?) on: June 08, 2009, 12:55:00 AM
I'm also interested in this information.

For my Polo 6N M-TDI with 2.5TDI pistons I would like to use the ARP bolts and nuts.

Yeah... Now I got it. The inside hexagon bolt with M8 locknut.

So I removed the timing cover, drilled a hole thru the injection pump bracket so I could adjust the governer axis without removing the pump.  I found this trick on the french side of the forums.  I then turned the axis in one full turn and bingo!  Instant pressure increase under load.  Too much actually.  I had to back it off quarter turn.

Can you please illustrate this, because I can't follow you.

Do you mean that now you can adjust the trottle leaver inside the cover of the pump? If yes, why wasn't it accessable before?
9  English Section / IDI Engine / Fuel cooling - optimal diesel temperature??? on: May 08, 2009, 12:26:57 AM
I suggest that you first find out what temerpature of your fuel is at the moment.

Perhaps it's a good idea to use a custom heater with one or 2 glowplugs. There are enough fuel coolers I think (haven't looked into that.

I got a 12v digital temperature controller with relay output. You can set the temperature where you want to switch the magnetic valve (2/3-way) and this way you can cool or heat the fuel. Also turn on the heaters when then the relay is switched.
10  English Section / TDI Engine / new project MTDI 5 pot in a manta A on: May 07, 2009, 11:39:39 PM
I don't want to polute your topic, just want to tell you you're not the only one with a 5-cyl m-tdi project

I started converting my Audi 100 1977 to a 2.0 5-cyl diesel for road admitance. After that I'm going to install a 2.5 TDI with 6-speed gearbox from a late Audi 100 or A6. I completely transformed all the motor supports. It is running and almost finished for the test. I only have to replace the front fender and do some other small welding.

@Marc:

I appreciate the site and the spirit. I've just transferred some euro's. Keep up the good work.
12  English Section / IDI Engine / 1.9 AEF, Bosch pump? on: January 23, 2009, 11:09:38 PM
I used an aftermarket sensor in Ohm resistance. You can also use a outside air temperature meter for it.

for reading it out I used a Temperature controller. I can sell you a set if you like for about 80 and a little bit for sending it to Sweden.
13  English Section / IDI Engine / 1.9 AEF, Bosch pump? on: January 21, 2009, 04:35:00 AM
It's not a secret. I modify and sell the 12mm LT pump for usage on the M-TDI engines.

Changed: Govenor, rear mounting bracket, advanced timing mechanism. You can have a look at the link in my signature.

14  English Section / IDI Engine / AEF turbo'd( can it be done??) on: January 20, 2009, 06:00:27 AM
I'm almost finished with my conversion. For now I installed it with the "weak" 085-gearbox and a special clutch made for this gearbox (170mm)

I got some pictures made with my telephone as soon as I got proper pictures I will post them here.
15  English Section / IDI Engine / 1.9 AEF, Bosch pump? on: January 19, 2009, 06:46:13 AM
I just converted my Polo 6N with AEF engine to a AFN 1.9TDI with mechanical Bosch pump.

Sorry for the crappy pictures. My digigital camera was broken and I took these with my telephone.

Inlet manifold with airtemp. sensor

You can see the small wheel through the cover. (I have to modify it)

I have to install the FMIC and break in the engine. For now low boost, small turbo.

I encountered some problems, but not for the pumpbracket conversion. The brackets from the 1900D 1X and the 1900TD AAZ/ABL are both ok to use.

You can use one from a TDI but that one has got the additional wheel for  the belt. The metal plate to keep the cover in place and the cover it selve aren't suitable for the wheel. I modified them (make some pictures if you like)
