TDI style PCV system on 1.6td. Does it fit?

I have an '83 Quantum turbodiesel and it has blow-by that's causing what I would call mild runaway. I've done a lot of reading on the subject and it seems that the band-aid "solution" is to vent the crankcase into a tee back into the intake as well as putting one of those handy cam baffles under the valve cover. Because I have a Quantum, there is a block off plate on the block, not the piece with the hose barb.

My question is this, does anyone know if I can just throw the breather hose and hockey puck from a TDI on? As far as I can see it should mount right up and accomplish exactly what I'd like; crankcase vents back into the intake along with the head.

I have access to both but they're not easily accessible so I thought I'd ask the boards first. Plus, if this does work it seems like a pretty elegant OEM+ solution to a problem lots of people (who for one reason or another aren't interested in or inclined to rebuild) seem to have on these old IDI's.

it will definitely bolt on and i have seen it done before.  the only issue i would see is that the 1.6 block is slightly shorter than tdi, so u might have to section part of it and make it a little shorter

Thanks! It was actually way easier to get those parts than I thought it would be and they do in fact bolt right up without any clearance issues.

So for anyone searching for an elegant solution to excessive crankcase pressure; go ahead and use TDI parts!

I would love to see this installed, and how much was this to acquire? What are the part numbers / year TDI?

I've always wondered why the old 1.5's had a similar system, then the 1.6's just had a plate bolted up, then the 1.9's went back again to the breather in the block setup...

  Why did every generation of VW diesel get the block ventilation except the 1.6? 

I put one of these on an old worn out 1.6 that had tons of blow-by coming out of dipstick and oil filler thinking it would miraculously cure my oil consumption.
It still consumed/leaked an awful lot, so not sure what it really accomplished.
All the seals/gaskets in the block probably thanked me, I'm sure it relieves some pressure and stops weeping a bit...

I had 2 of these complete sets for sale recently, but they both sold quick.

I'm going to run one on my 1.6TD Caddy just because I think the set-up looks cool.
