check coolant temp in engine with vag-com when misfiring is occuring. possibly a bad CTS?

Would it cause the timing?

Very much so. timing is based on inputs to the ECU from things like the CTS and FTS, MAF, pedal position, etc.

I'm pretty sure my buddy looked at the coolant temp on the vag and said it was good,

The car was a real pain to start cold, it would crank and crank and crank, we tried to adjust the IQ and no go, I did the hammer mod and the car fires up faster and isn't missfiring when first started, now you can feel the DMF going,

There still seems to be a bit of hesitation after she's syarted and you leave but when it's warm it's got wayyyyy more power

Did this problem start all of the sudden? Was it running fine one day and then the next day it started misfiring and such?

It would changed from 5 minutes to another, i won't be fixing it for a bit, thr turbo over boosted blew an intercooler line and thru it into the powersteering pump blowing a huge hole in it with possibly plastic going into the motor

Was this problem present before blowing off the charge pipe? Is the intake manifold clean?

Yes to both questions.

Yea I cleaned the intake my car only has 230,000kms on it, the IQ was out of whack again so I'm positive it's the pump, but no worries I'm tearing thr motor apart soon to start rebuilding it,
